3 including one disciple of Mahant arrested in Akhara Chief’s suicide case

It is a great shock for the seer community in Haridwar as the Akhara Parishad Chief Narendra Giri committed suicide and died. However, the close ones to the chief claim that the suicide is a result of a conspiracy against the Maharishi and the same is being claimed in a handwritten suicide note of Narendra Giri. In the suicide note, the Akhara Chief has said that he is forced to take his own life because he was being threatened and blackmailed by one of his disciple Anand Giri over a ‘morphed photo with a girl.”

The note also has the mention of a priest from the Bhagambari Math Adhya Tiwari, and his son, Sandeep. All the three accused were arrested by the Police. As per the FIR lodged in the case, Mahant Anand s accused of abetment of suicide. Giri’s death will now be investigate by Additional DG (Prayagraj zone) Prem Prakash along with a 1 membered team of SIT.

The late Mahant has frequent visitors from the politics including UP CM Yogi Adityanath and former CM Akhilesh Yadav. Yogi had already given a statement that those responsible for the crime won’t be spared and Akhilesh has asked a probe to be conducted by the sitting judge of the High Court.

"I came to know that Anand Giri was going to share with the public a morphed photo that showed me with a girl. Anand asked me that once these allegations spread, how many people will you prove your innocence to? I have lived a life of dignity… and I can’t live with the humiliation that I will be subjected to…" read the Mahant’s suicide note. The suicide note was found in Bhagambari Math along with the mahant’s body.
